 BIO

An artist and researcher based in London, Rebecca Lennon works across media including sound, video, writing and performance. She is currently doing a PhD at Goldsmiths on Sonic Anarchitectures, researching the potential of sound and voice to build new architectures and worlds that become anarchic sonic acts of resistance- from medieval nuns creating new monasteries with voice, to brutalist megastructures turned into sound systems, high rise tower blocks turned into pirate radio broadcast devices, and collective protest choirs entering political and military buildings through walls and fences. As part of this PhD she is working on Estate Choir, an improvised collective vocal collaboration with her neighbours in a housing estate in Queensbury, North West London.

She has exhibited widely and has taught at universities such as Arts University Bournemouth BA Fine Art, Goldsmiths Fine Art Extension, Royal College of Art MA Contemporary Fine Art Practice, London & The Art Institute, MA Fine Art, FHNW,  Basel where she loves talking to students about their projects. She's also done creative workshops at galleries, museums and youth centres.

Rebecca featured in ‘On Care, an anthology of artists writing published by MA Bibliotheque in 2020, has released music on Flaming Pines and Thanet Tape Centre and is currently Artist in Residence at Reduced Listening where she is exploring radio as a form for her artistic and research practice.
